About the Victorian Centre for Early Defibrillation

The Victorian Centre for Early Defibrillation (VCED) was established in 2002 and is an independant, not for profit resource and advovacy centre dedicated to improving survival from sudden cardiac arrest. The primary goal is to ensure that everyone throughout Victoria who suffers sudden cardiac arrest, whether in a congested urban community or in a reomte rural community, has immediate access to defibrillation.

The VCED is an initiative of Monash University through the Centre for Ambulance and Paramedic Studies. An advisory board supports and advises the VCED. Initial members of the board comprises The Metropolitan Ambulance Service, St John Ambulance Australia Victoria District and the Metropolitan Fire and Emergency Services Board.
